Study Visit and Inter-Regional Textile Handicraft Networking Project
Context and Rationale On November 18, 2025, the Lampang Provincial Community Development Office and a delegation of Lampang textile entrepreneurs from the "Krang Craft" exhibition (held at Central Udon Thani from November 14-18, 2025) visited the Isan Textile Museum at Udon Thani Rajabhat University. The foundation of this project is rooted in cultural preservation and the advancement of local textile knowledge and wisdom (Research and Innovation). The initiative aims to facilitate the exchange of traditional weaving practices and establish a robust cross-regional (North-Northeast) arts and crafts collaboration network, paving the way for future joint activities.
Activities and Operations Conducted on November 18, 2025, from 08:30 to 10:00 hrs., Assoc. Prof. Nawa Wongphrom, Head of the Isan Textile Museum, warmly welcomed and lectured the visiting delegation. The program included a guided tour of the Isan Textile Museum's main exhibits, a rotating exhibition of community products, and an overview of the operations at the Fabric and Textile Creative Design Center (FTCDC). This initiative connects directly with teaching, learning, and community outreach (Teaching & Outreach) by utilizing the museum as an active cultural learning space, encouraging the exchange of design experiences and local material usage between entrepreneurs and academics.
Partnerships The success of this networking event reflects internal institutional stewardship (Stewardship) by Udon Thani Rajabhat University, facilitated by the Isan Textile Museum and FTCDC, alongside robust cross-regional partnerships (Partnerships). This collaboration unites the university with the Lampang Provincial Community Development Office and Lampang textile entrepreneurs to jointly drive the creative economy and elevate the sustainability of Thai textile handicrafts.
Outcomes The project aims for outcomes covering 1 dimension, which is:
- SDG 11 Dimension (Sustainable Cities and Communities): The project (held on November 18, 2025) promotes the safeguarding and protection of national cultural heritage by utilizing the Isan Textile Museum as a hub for cross-regional knowledge exchange. This effort helps preserve traditional weaving wisdom, builds strong handicraft entrepreneur networks, and ensures the sustainability of community cultural identities.
