"Music in the Park: H.M. Song" Activity

Context and Rationale On December 5, 2025, at 17.30 hrs., at the Central Stage of Thung Si Mueang, Udon Thani, the "Music in the Park: H.M. Song" event was organized. The foundation of this project is rooted in cultural preservation and the continuation of musical heritage (Research and Innovation). Initiated by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) in collaboration with local higher education institutions, the event aims to honor and commemorate the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great on his birthday, celebrating his benevolence and profound musical genius.

Activities and Operations Conducted on December 5, 2025, the opening ceremony was presided over by Mr. Natthapon Withi, Deputy Governor of Udon Thani Province. The highlight of the event was a grand performance by the UDRU Wind Orchestra, featuring over 60 students and lecturers from the Music Education Program (Faculty of Education) and the Music Program (Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences) performing Royal Compositions. This initiative connects directly with teaching, learning, and community outreach (Teaching & Outreach), providing a practical platform for students to demonstrate their musical talents and engage with the community.

Partnerships The success of this cultural event reflects internal institutional stewardship (Stewardship) by Udon Thani Rajabhat University—integrating efforts across the Faculty of Education and the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences—and robust national and provincial partnerships (Partnerships) uniting the Ministry of MHESI and Udon Thani Province to transform public spaces into vibrant cultural and recreational hubs.

Outcomes The project aims for outcomes covering 1 dimension, which is:

  • SDG 11 Dimension (Sustainable Cities and Communities): The project (held on December 5, 2025) promotes the safeguarding and protection of national cultural heritage by preserving and performing Royal Compositions. It also enhances the inclusive use of public spaces (Thung Si Mueang) to enrich the cultural, social, and recreational well-being of the city's residents sustainably.
