Faculty of Nursing, UDRU and Kumphawapi Hospital Sign Scholarship Agreement to Support Nursing Students and Enhance Regional Healthcare Workforce
The Faculty of Nursing at Udon Thani Rajabhat University signs a scholarship agreement with Kumphawapi Hospital to award scholarships worth 40,000 THB/year per student to 6 nursing students, alleviating financial burdens and boosting healthcare personnel.
Context & Rationale
This educational and public health initiative involved the official scholarship agreement signing ceremony between the Faculty of Nursing, Udon Thani Rajabhat University, and Kumphawapi Hospital. Held on September 19, 2025, at the Conference Room of the Faculty of Nursing, Udon Thani Rajabhat University, the primary rationale of this initiative is to foster collaborative nursing workforce development. The scholarship scheme aims to alleviate financial burdens for nursing students in the 2025 academic year, providing essential monetary support that empowers students to focus entirely on their studies and fulfill their potential, while continuously supplying high-quality registered nurses to the regional healthcare system.
Activities & Operations
On September 19, 2025, the formal scholarship agreement was executed, officially awarding financial aid to 6 nursing students (4 first-year students and 2 fourth-year students). Each student received a scholarship valued at 40,000 THB per year. In addition to the signing ceremony, operational activities included professional encouragement sessions, nursing career guidance, and establishing formal links between scholarship recipients and Kumphawapi Hospital for their future healthcare service placement upon graduation.
Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships
The successful execution of this nursing education support program was anchored in a strategic partnership bridging higher education and local healthcare providers. The academic core was led by Udon Thani Rajabhat University (Faculty of Nursing leadership and faculty members), managing nursing education and candidate preparation. This academic unit worked in direct partnership with Kumphawapi Hospital, which provided full financial sponsorship for the scholarships and serves as the clinical placement host for the future nursing workforce.
Project Outputs
As a direct outcome of these joint operations, 6 nursing students across first and fourth academic years successfully received scholarship grants worth 40,000 THB per student/year, significantly easing their educational financial burden. Furthermore, the event generated a formalized institutional scholarship agreement between the university and Kumphawapi Hospital, alongside a clear workforce pipeline transferring certified nursing graduates directly into district and provincial healthcare systems.
Outcomes
The project aims for comprehensive outcomes across 2 key dimensions:
- SDG 1 (No Poverty): Alleviates local poverty and financial hardship for student households by providing direct tuition aid of 40,000 THB/year, enabling recipients to complete their degrees and secure stable, well-paying registered nursing careers to sustainably elevate their family economic status.
- SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being): Promotes health and well-being across the region by strengthening the supply of qualified nursing professionals. Increasing certified healthcare staff enhances Kumphawapi Hospital's service capacity and strengthens overall local public health infrastructure.
