Road Safety Culture Enhancement Project
Context and Rationale On June 26, 2025, at the Mongkut Petch Meeting Room, Siam Grand Hotel, Mueang Udon Thani District, Udon Thani Province, the "Road Safety Culture Enhancement Project" was organized. The foundation of this project is rooted in integrating road safety knowledge, first-aid techniques, and life-saving rescue innovations (Research and Innovation). The objective was to raise road safety awareness, enhance emergency response and victim assistance skills, and equip trainees to effectively transfer their knowledge to local communities.
Activities and Operations Conducted across 6 batches (on June 26–27 and July 17, 18, 24, 25, 2025) with over 600 total participants, the event on June 26, 2025, saw Mr. Kiattichai Wanich, Acting Director of the Student Development Division, Udon Thani Rajabhat University, lead 20 students from the university's Rescue Club to participate. Activities included expert lectures, practical training, basic rescue tool utilization, accident simulations, and post-training evaluations. This initiative connects directly with extracurricular learning and community outreach (Teaching & Outreach) by actively engaging students in life-saving practices alongside professional rescue networks.
Partnerships The success of this project reflects internal institutional stewardship and student capacity building (Stewardship) by Udon Thani Rajabhat University (via the Student Development Division), alongside robust collaborative networks (Partnerships). Led by Mr. Boonrueang Hlonglaluat, Director of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Regional Center 14 Udon Thani, the partnership united local government organizations, village headmen, foundations, and various volunteer networks (civil defense, territorial defense, health volunteers) across Udon Thani Province to concretely drive road safety policies.
Outcomes The project aims for outcomes covering 1 dimension, which is:
- SDG 17 Dimension: The project strengthens multi-stakeholder partnerships for sustainable development by establishing a robust road safety volunteer network comprising higher education institutions (Udon Thani Rajabhat University), DDPM Regional Center 14, local governments, and over 600 community volunteers. This collaboration effectively mobilizes efforts to sustainably reduce accidents and promote a safety culture across Udon Thani Province.
