UDRU Faculty of Education, Demonstration School, and International College Host Orientation for International Student Teachers Under SEA-Teacher Batch 11
Udon Thani Rajabhat University conducts the orientation for international exchange students under the 11th batch of the SEA-Teacher Project, enhancing cross-border teaching competencies, inclusive education, gender equality, and regional mobility across Southeast Asian partner universities.
Context & Rationale
This international education and teacher development initiative centered on the orientation ceremony for international exchange students under the 11th batch of the Southeast Asian Teacher Exchange Project (SEA-Teacher Project). Held on November 4, 2025, at Conference Room 2, Chalermphrakiat Building, Udon Thani Rajabhat University (UDRU), the event featured a welcoming address by President Asst. Prof. Dr. Kanissara Thansunthornsakul. The primary rationale of this initiative is to elevate professional teaching standards to international benchmarks through inter-university collaboration across Southeast Asia. The program empowers student teachers to acquire modern pedagogical skills, cultivate cross-cultural communication, exchange cultural heritage, and guarantee equal professional development opportunities regardless of gender during their practicum placement.
Activities & Operations
On November 4, 2025, comprehensive orientation operations were executed to facilitate the academic and cultural transition of exchange students. Operational activities included an official welcome and policy address by the University President, detailed briefings on campus life, academic facilities, accommodation, and support services. Furthermore, the session officially launched the student "Buddy System" pairing local and international students, while introducing the practicum frameworks and teaching supervision schedules at the UDRU Demonstration School and partner networks.
Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships
The successful execution of this regional teacher mobility program relied on a multi-tier partnership combining internal faculties and international academic networks. The institutional hosts were led by the Faculty of Education, the UDRU Demonstration School, and the International College of Udon Thani Rajabhat University (presided over by President Asst. Prof. Dr. Kanissara Thansunthornsakul). This higher education team operated in direct partnership with member universities across Southeast Asia under the auspices of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) SEA-Teacher framework.
Project Outputs
As a direct outcome of these joint operations, international student teachers from ASEAN partner universities successfully completed orientation, preparing them for teaching practicums in Thailand. Moreover, the project established a functional cross-cultural buddy support network, standardized international teacher training frameworks, and strengthened operational linkages between the university, demonstration school, and regional partner institutions.
Outcomes
The project aims for comprehensive outcomes across 4 key dimensions:
- SDG 4 (Quality Education): Substantially increases the supply of qualified teachers (Target 4.c) by upgrading teaching competencies, practical classroom management skills, and global perspectives among student teachers across the region.
- SDG 5 (Gender Equality): Promotes equal access to professional leadership development and international mobility for all student teachers, empowering female educators to excel in global academic spheres.
- SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities): Promotes social and cultural inclusion by fostering cross-border educational mobility, reducing cultural barriers, and ensuring equal capacity-building opportunities for youth across Southeast Asian nations.
- SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals): Strengthens international multi-stakeholder partnerships in higher education (Target 17.16) between UDRU and SEAMEO network universities to exchange knowledge, pedagogical innovations, and educational resources.
