UDRU Office of Arts and Culture Joins Udonthani Brand Committee Meeting to Approve Trademark Certification for 45 Local Products Across 19 Enterprise Nominees
Udon Thani Rajabhat University participates in the 1/2025 Udonthani Brand Executive Committee Meeting to review and approve trademark usage rights for 19 local entrepreneurs covering 45 community products, boosting local market identity and transparent governance.
Context & Rationale
This provincial economic governance initiative centered on the 1st/2025 Udonthani Brand Executive Committee Meeting, held on March 12, 2025, at the Conference Room (4th Floor), Udon Thani Provincial Commerce Office. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Nattaporn Khamwongpin, Vice Governor of Udon Thani Province, with Asst. Prof. Rapeepan Chantarasar, Director of the Office of Arts and Culture at Udon Thani Rajabhat University, serving on the evaluation board. The primary rationale of this initiative is to standardize, certify quality, and elevate the market identity of Udon Thani's local goods and services. Through transparent quality control, the project adds economic value to community products, builds consumer trust, and sustainably enhances the market competitiveness of local entrepreneurs.
Activities & Operations
On March 12, 2025, committee operations involved reviewing marketing promotion outcomes and formally deliberating trademark authorization requests. The committee approved the usage rights of the "Udonthani Brand" for 19 business applicants covering 45 local products across 3 distinct categories: 1) Utensils, Home Decor, and Souvenirs (7 applicants, 12 products approved); 2) Textiles and Apparel (4 applicants, 4 products approved); and 3) Food and Beverages (7 applicants, 28 products approved). Furthermore, the board reviewed cumulative application statistics to further optimize future governance procedures.
Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships
The successful execution of this provincial brand strategy was powered by a multi-stakeholder alliance combining regional government, higher education, and private business sectors. The administrative core was driven by the Udon Thani Provincial Commerce Office (led by Provincial Commerce Officer Ms. Yupaporn Somlim) and provincial administration leadership (led by Vice Governor Mr. Nattaporn Khamwongpin). This public team worked in direct collaboration with Udon Thani Rajabhat University (represented by Director Asst. Prof. Rapeepan Chantarasar), alongside the Udon Thani Chamber of Commerce, relevant government department heads, and local enterprise networks.
Project Outputs
As a direct outcome of these joint operations, 19 local enterprise entities were formally awarded the "Udonthani Brand" trademark certification covering 45 verified community products. Moreover, the project established a transparent and verifiable provincial quality certification database, alongside a unified marketing strategy framework linking public agencies, the regional university, and local business owners to scale regional products into national and international markets.
Outcomes
The project aims for comprehensive outcomes across 2 key dimensions:
- SDG 1 (No Poverty): Alleviates local poverty and strengthens the grassroots economy by utilizing the certified "Udonthani Brand" trademark to enhance product value and commercial credibility. This opens expanded market avenues for small-scale entrepreneurs and local artisans, boosting household incomes and long-term economic self-reliance.
- SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions): Strengthens effective, accountable, and transparent public institutions through systematic, rule-based trademark screening. The governance model ensures clear, verifiable criteria and inclusive multi-sectoral decision-making for public benefit.
