Faculty of Management Sciences Office, UDRU Selected for Green Office Project 2025 by Department of Climate Change and Environment

The Office of the Faculty of Management Sciences at Udon Thani Rajabhat University is officially selected by the Department of Climate Change and Environment to join the 2025 Green Office Initiative, driving eco-friendly behavioral transformations, energy efficiency, waste management, and sustainable organizational development.

Context & Rationale

This institutional environmental management initiative centered on the selection of the Office of the Faculty of Management Sciences, Udon Thani Rajabhat University (UDRU), to participate in the "Green Office Project 2025," organized by the Department of Climate Change and Environment, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment. The primary rationale of this initiative is to transform administrative operations into low-carbon, eco-friendly workflows. By institutionalizing sustainable resource utilization, electricity and water conservation, waste reduction, and Green Procurement, the faculty strengthens UDRU's commitment to becoming a sustainable higher education institution.

Activities & Operations

Under the 2025 Green Office framework, the Faculty of Management Sciences operationalizes 6 primary evaluation criteria: establishing organizational environmental policies, conducting staff training to foster climate awareness, optimizing energy and water consumption, implementing systematic waste segregation and hazardous waste disposal, ensuring indoor environmental quality and workplace safety, and enforcing Green Procurement guidelines for office supplies.

Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships

The successful selection and implementation of this green initiative were driven by a strategic partnership between national environmental authorities and regional higher education. The operational core was led by the Office of the Faculty of Management Sciences, UDRU (executives, faculty members, and administrative staff), operating in direct collaboration with the Department of Climate Change and Environment (Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment) as the national governing and auditing body.

Project Outputs

As a direct outcome of joining the project, the Faculty of Management Sciences established structured environmental governance frameworks and low-carbon operational guidelines. Furthermore, office personnel acquired verified competencies in resource conservation and waste management, establishing an active Green Procurement database and institutional carbon footprint monitoring system for campus-wide replication.

Outcomes

The project aims for comprehensive outcomes across 5 key dimensions:

  • SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production): (Primary Goal) Drives sustainable management practices through waste minimization, resource efficiency, and green public procurement (Target 12.7).
  • SDG 13 (Climate Action): (Co-Primary Goal) Mitigates organizational greenhouse gas emissions in partnership with national climate change agencies to support national decarbonization targets.
  • SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy): Enhances building energy efficiency and energy-saving workplace habits.
  • SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation): Promotes sustainable water use and reduces water waste across administrative facilities.
  • SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals): Strengthens multi-stakeholder partnerships bridging a regional university (UDRU) and a national government department (Department of Climate Change and Environment) to advance sustainable development goals.
